Accelerate Christian Home Schooling

I have done Australian Christian homeschooling but moved to another provider that uses the same curriculum called Accelerate Christian Home Schooling and I found them more helpful and had a lot more for families such as camps and awards ceremonies. I did Faith in between but didn't like the timelines of classes and having to use technology my kids would play games instead. Accelerate Christian home school are bookwork based which I find a lot easier to manage and supervise.

Voddie Baucham quote on Christian education featuring Roman soldiers: We cannot continue to send our children to Caesar for their education and be surprised when they come home as Romans.

The Myth of “I Turned Out Fine”: Why Christian Education Matters

How often have we heard the phrase, “I went to public school, and I turned out okay. My children don't need Christian Education”? While that may be true for past generations, we must ask: Is that still the norm? And more importantly, how long ago was that?

A.C.E. has known for over 50 years: If you want your children to possess a Biblical worldview, you cannot simply add faith as a side dish; it must be the foundation of their education. What we need to recognize is that the public education system is doing the same thing... but with their own worldview.

Public education has changed drastically over the last few decades. Previously, mathematics was simply mathematics, and academic rigor was the primary focus. Today, however, we are seeing a shift where secular ideologies regarding gender and identity are being introduced to children at increasingly younger ages. We are seeing things creep in with the teaching staff - including concerning reports of teachers who reject basic biological reality, identifying as animals or confusing children about their own nature. We are seeing a lack of accountability for students, and increasing restrictions on the teachers ability to reprimand or discipline.

The Time Deficit: Doing the Math

With our increasing time deficiency as parents, we can be tempted to assume that Sunday School is enough to counterbalance secular influence. However, when we look at the numbers, the disparity is alarming.

Consider the breakdown of a student’s week:

  • School: ~25 hours
  • Homework: ~2–5 hours [^1]
  • Total Secular Input: ~27–30 hours per week

Compare this to the spiritual input a child receives from a non-parental influence:

  • Sunday School/Church: ~1 hour
  • Youth Group/Midweek Service: ~2 hours (at best)
  • Total Spiritual Input: ~3 to 5 hours per week

Even at a conservative estimate, this is a 10-to-1 ratio of secular worldview to Biblical worldview. If we send our children into an environment that ignores or contradicts God for 30 hours a week, we cannot be surprised if they begin to reject fundamental truths by the time they reach university.

Whose Responsibility Is It?

Many parents unconsciously delegate the spiritual training of their children to the church. However, the church’s role is to equip the saints for the work of ministry—to help you disciple your children.

It is ultimately the parent's role to take charge of their child’s spiritual development. As Ken Ham notes, “Biblical worldview teaching is incredibly important... Remember, fathers, it’s your responsibility to train your children in the admonition of the Lord and not ultimately the church’s responsibility! Money, status, sports achievements, and everything else fades away—but our children have eternal souls that will live forever.” [^2]

The Academic & Moral Reality

Beyond the spiritual battle, we are also witnessing a decline in academic standards, particularly in literacy during the foundational years.[^3] When we remove God from education, we lose the foundation for truth, logic, and order.

We are seeing rising youth crime, suicide, depression, lack of respect, and racism. We believe this is largely linked to telling God to ‘get lost’ out of our education. Because we are humans with free will, having God in the classroom doesn't solve every problem instantly, but it makes a massive difference.

Conclusion: Finding the Balance

"Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old he will not depart from it" (Proverbs 22:6). There is absolutely a healthy balance to be found. We should not aim for complete ostracization—hiding our children away so they never encounter the world is not the answer. However, allowing too much influence before they are spiritually mature is equally dangerous.

Don’t let your kids "swim in the sewer" just to educate them about the world. Don’t let them go into battle for their faith before they are ready.

In the words of Voddie Baucham, “We cannot continue to send our children to Caesar for education, and be surprised when they come home as Romans.”

Educators’ Conference ONLINE

REGISTER HERE ON WEBSITE

SEED (Sowing Educational Empowerment Daily) Conference is an opportunity for educators using A.C.E. in our region to gather, get encouraged, challenged, and learn together! Because of technology, we can meet online, even if we can’t meet in person!

1 Corinthians 3:6 says “I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.” If we have been called to education, then we have been entrusted with a seed, in the form of our students. Sometimes we will see the growth, and have the privilege of ‘watering’ them. Other times, we will plant the seed, and may not see anything, and someone else will take the next step. Wherever we fit into their lives, God is the one who gives the increase, it is all for His glory! And we can be assured, later in the passage, it says that we will be rewarded for our hard work! So take heart, Christian Educator, that if you are planting the Word of God in your students, you are doing good, even if you don’t personally see the fruit. Together, let’s keep equipping people to honour God!

Life After School

Imagine yourself standing in front of a signpost. There are signs pointing in nearly every direction and as you stand there, you have to make a choice about which direction you are going to take. When you are faced with this immediate and seemingly overwhelming challenge, it feels like a wrong choice can ruin your life.

This is what leaving school can feel like for a number of our students. Some of our students know exactly what they want to do when they leave school – they are going on to full-time work, tertiary study, or vocational study. They’ve stood at the signpost and made a decision. Just over half of these students will go on to do exactly as they had planned – the others will encounter setbacks, such as not being accepted into their chosen course of study, or will try their chosen pathway for a while before deciding that it really isn’t what they want to do with their lives.

Change can be wonderful. It can also be terrifying. Leaving school would have to rank as one of the biggest life changes that our students will experience. So how do we prepare them for a successful transition from the ordered world of school to the busy-bustling world of making decisions that is life after school?

One of the ways that we can help our students make a successful transition from school to life after school is to prepare them. Students can become so fixated on finishing their last test that they cannot see the bigger picture. They need us to help them see the bigger picture – leaving school is another step forward in the journey of life. By encouraging our students to think and dream about life after they have finished school and by engaging them in discussions about their fears, thoughts and dreams, we can help prepare our students for what happens next. The support and discussion is invaluable but intangible – students can’t produce the discussion they had with you to support their job application.

About two thirds of graduating students do not have a CV or resume prepared when they leave school. The one third that does have a CV or resume has one they prepared to get a part-time job in their senior years of schooling and haven’t updated it for quite some time. One of the simplest ways we can prepare our students for life after school is to equip them with the necessary paperwork for surviving the adult world. They need to know what a CV is, what a resume is but more than that, they need to have their own CV or resume prepared, ready to be used to help them achieve their goals of further study or employment.

I went searching for tools to help students prepare their CV and resumes. There was a lot of advice – much of it contradictory and often aimed at someone who has at least a little bit of work experience. I could find very few resources that helped a student fresh out of school put together their CV. I could find no resources that helped a student fresh out of school create their CV and incorporate a Biblical worldview. So we created one. We have developed a Biblical worldview resource that will help your student or child to prepare and write a CV, resume, cover letter and references. The unit covers subject matter such as online presence in social media and networking, integrity, mentoring, work experience, achievements, volunteering and extracurricular activities.
